- Empire Justice Center’s Unemployment and Paid Leave Legal Help Line - People in New York who have lost their job or who are seeking Emergency Paid Sick and Family and Medical Leave in response to the covid-19 crisis can now call (800) 724-0490 ext. 5827 to be connected with an attorney. Empire Justice Center’s attorneys will provide legal advice and counsel regarding the New York State Unemployment Insurance program.

- The Newark Food Closet is still open Monday-Friday 10am-12pm. Person registering must have ID and proof of residency for themselves and just proof of residency for everyone in the household over the age of 19 at each visit. Newark East Palmyra, and Port Gibson zip codes may utilize the pantry once a month. We do serve all of Wayne county residents but anyone out of those 3 service areas can only come to us once a year.
